10 Minutes a Day

I’ve recently adopted something I call “10 Minutes a Day” into my life and I’m loving it. It’s a structure to practice my non-negotiables that I created based on an exercise I did with my life coach. It is centered around my values and aims to focus on the things I can commit to daily that positively impact my values. After all, what are values if you aren’t living them?
I’ve been introducing 10 Minutes a Day slowly into my routine in hopes that I stick to it. I tend to operate well in overwhelm, which is exactly what I’m trying to avoid. This isn’t meant to be stressful, it’s all about peace. Doing things to check a box in my heart, not on my to-do list.
So, this month, I’m spending 10 minutes a day in prayer/reflection and 10 minutes a day exploring a health/wellness topic. Spirituality and health are on my personal top 10 values list, and I’m choosing to focus on them right now for very specific reasons.
Spirituality has been a pillar of strength for me as we navigate this pandemic. My faith has been the source of my confidence, hope, and joy each day. While I am deeply saddened and distraught by the things going on around us, I’ve been able to find so many things to be grateful for. I notice that when I spend 10 minutes of my morning in prayer, worship, or research on biblical truths, I am in a more joyful disposition throughout the day. I am more patient with myself and others, I feel grounded, and my focus is on the positives.

Health and wellness is a never-ending journey. Can you ever truly know everything there is to know in this category?! I’m taking advantage of my passion to learn more by spending 10 minutes a day exploring any health/wellness related topic. That random thing I always wondered and that one thing I know I should do but am not sure why? Time to find out. Up this week: benefits of pre/probiotics, how to store broccoli, and what’s all the hype behind these Himalayan salt lamps?
10 minutes wasn’t just a number I magically came up with. 5 felt like too few to give to something a value I deem to be of the utmost importance. But, 10 felt like a commitment I could make daily, with a joyful heart. There is so much pleasure to be found in slowing down and I encourage you to do the same!
What are you working on this month? I think it would be cool to all focus on our 10 Minutes a Day together. Accountability is key! In May, I will be spending 10 Minutes a Day focused on one of my core values and I encourage you to do the same! Follow along with me as I document my 10 Minutes a Day in May on my Instagram stories!
