My First Apartment
Well, I finally did it. I officially am renting my very own apartment! No family, no roommates, no one to answer to. Just me! Adulting!
Well, when I say no family, I mean in my unit. I’m so grateful to be able to rent in the same building as my family. They live about 40 floors up and I absolutely love being able to see them as frequently as I do. Additionally, as someone who struggles with extreme anxiety, it’s nice to have the security of knowing my family is just an elevator ride away.
I chose to stay at my building ultimately over the last 2 options because of security. I have a 24-7 door staff and I am so impressed with my building’s ability to hire not one, but six incredible people. I feel safe here and any price is worth peace of mind, for me.
I live in Lakeshore East. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s the furthermost east neighborhood before the lake in Chicago, right across the river from Navy Pier. The neighborhood initially drew me in because of the suburb-like community I experience living downtown. All of the buildings in my area surround Lakeshore East Park, below ground and away from any major street traffic. I love that I see the same people walking their dogs, know the kids in my building and others, and truly feel a sense of community while walking to our Mariano’s and seeing essentially, the same people all the time. I grew up in the suburbs and since I don’t foresee living there again, Lakeshore East is perfect for me.
I’ve created a folder that has many of my favorite home-decor finds! I will be adding to it as I continue to find my pieces and similar ones online 🙂 Check it out here.
I so appreciate everyone’s patience as I put the final touches on that post! Stay tuned 🙂
